The first Saturday of each Month, the Brooklyn Museum of Art keeps its doors open until 11pm.  From 5pm to 11pm the admission is free, it’s all sponsored by Target.  Yay Target!  Besides being able to see the current exhibitions on each first Saturday they have lots of activities going on from art projects to films.  The main event is the dance party ( at least for me).  From 9pm-11pm they open up the huge Beaux Arts hall, and a DJ spins, last months it was a mix of House music and Opera.  This month it was Rock and Roll, to coincide with Who Shot Rock and Roll exhibit which by the way was phenomenal and I want to go back to see it again. What is really inspiring about the dance party is that you see entire families dancing together!  You see toddlers losing their minds with joy , you see daddies holding their babies as they dance, teenagers, couples, groups of friends dancing together and break dancers.  It’s a really diverse group and its beautiful.  I went for the first time last month and you could not wipe the smile off my face.  I thought that this was the future of clubs.  Last night I went with a group of friends and they all expressed how much fun they had, how amazing the energy was and how cool they thought it was.  So put it in your calendar for next month, shine your dance shoes up and go dance, dance, dance!
